2005 IHRS Awards Recipient - Dan Breach
The Idaho Historical Racing Society annually presents a Humanitarian Achievement Award to an individual who has made a significant contribution to Oval track racing. We would be very hard pressed to find anyone who has logged in as many hours and miles as tonight’s recipient has.
In 1975, at the young age of 8 years old, he started his involvement by selling meridian speedway programs to create cash funds for the WIRA auxiliary. At age 11, he was working in the scoring tower. At 15 he made his way into the pits and was wrenching on his relatives stock car. At age 18 he started his driving career participating in the enduro class, bombers, factory stock class and the Hornets, being award the “Sportsman” of the year award 5 times, & finished in the top ten in points each driving season.
The number of times that he has stepped forward to take a leadership role in WIRA has been phenomenal. He has served 15 years on the WIRA Board. Race director, Asst pit steward, Head flagman, Scorer, Class adviser are a few of the lead positions he has held, and Two times he has stepped forward and served as the WIRA president. Lately he has been a devoted stalwart doing the necessary leg work that has contributed to the success of the Intermountain Pro 4 Challenge series and the Rocky Mountain Challenge series.
The WIRA Hall of Fame Plaque now has a permanent home at our Historical headquarters at Printcraft of Caldwell due to his efforts. A few minutes of me on this stage tonight can not truly justify his efforts and love for racing these past 32 years.
The Idaho Historical Racing Society is pleased to honor Dan Breach as our “Humanitarian Achievement “AWARDS RECIPIENT for 2005. Stan Fuller
